Abstract
Fast täglich müssen wir erfahren, dass die Belastbarkeit unseres Körpers und seiner Organe begrenzt ist. Gelegentlich benötigen wir deshalb Hilfsmittel, um keinen Schaden zu erleiden. Wer einen Gletscher überqueren oder eine Sonnenfinsternis beobachten will, braucht Sonnenbrille und wirksame Schutzfilter. Rettungsmannschaften der Feuerwehr riskieren in verrauchten Räumen ohne Atemschutzfilter binnen Sekunden ihr Leben. Und längst hat es sich herumgesprochen, dass das Leben eines jeden von uns bedroht ist, weil die Atmosphäre des Planeten Erde als Filter immer unwirksamer wird. Auch Geist und Verstand halten nicht alles aus, was auf sie einstürmt. Die Nachrichtenfülle auf zig TV-Kanälen im Wohnzimmer, eine Werbeflut nahezu an jedem Ort von morgens bis abends, die kaum mehr zu überblickende Informationsballung im Internet - was uns zu bereichern schien, droht uns geistig und emotional zu ersticken. Es müsste einen Filter geben, der Überflüssiges und Schädliches von dem trennt, was Substanz hat und wertvoll ist. Der Apostel Paulus hat das in einem Brief an die Gemeinde von Korinth als Fähigkeit zur "Unterscheidung der Geister" , beschrieben. Dafür gibt es keine Patentrezepte, aber interessante Möglichkeiten zur Erprobung. Wer sich z.B. daran macht, seine Sorgen und Ängste durch den "Filter" eines Gebetes zu pressen, wird merken, worauf es ankommt; überflüssiges Drum und Dran bleibt außen vor. Sich Zeit lassen zum Nachdenken, zur Sammlung oder - wem es gegeben ist zur Meditation, alles das kann filternd davor schützen, überflutet zu werden. Filter haben aber nicht nur Schutz- und Abwehrfunktion. Vor der Linse eines Fotoapparates geben sie den Bildern Qualität und Ausdruck. Nicht zu vergessen ein gut gefilterter Kaffee, der am Sonntagnachmittag dazu anregen kann, neue Ideen gegen geistige Umweltverschmutzung zu entwickeln
