Abstract

Während vor wenigen Jahren bei Information Retrieval Systemen die Benutzerschnittstelle in der Regel aus einem Eingabeprompt bestand, über den professionelle Vermittler mit Hilfe spezifischer Kommandosprachen die Suche nach bestimmten Informationen abwickelten, stehen heute Interfaces zur Verfügung, über die auch ungeübte Benutzer und Laien ihre Informationsbedürfnisse abarbeiten können. Obwohl erwiesen scheint, daß die Schnittstelle durchaus einfluß auf das Retrievalergebnis besitzt, ist noch nicht geklärt, welche Art von Schnittstelle für welchen Benutzertyp die geeignetste ist, ob hier überhaupt Unterschiede bestehen und ob es Arten von Informationsprobleme gibt, für die die eine Art Schnittstelle geeigneter ist als eine andere. Zur Klärung dieser Fragen sollten drei auf unterschiedlichen Prinzipien basierende, auf dem probabilistischen IR-System INQUERY aufsetzende Schnittstellen, nämlich eine kommandoorientierte, eine fensterbasierte sowie die auf 3-D-Visualisierung beruhende, am GMD-IPSI entwickelte Schnittstelle LyberWorld gegeneinander evaluiert werden
