Abstract
Die Bibliothek des Deutschen Literaturarchivs ist seit 1975 Mitglied in der Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Spezialbibliotheken, wo sie zwischen den Kunst- und Museumsbibliotheken einen recht einsamen Platz einnimmt; sie präsentiert sich heute zum allerersten Mal im Rahmen einer Fachtagung. Der Einführung der Datenverarbeitung für alle sammelnden Abteilungen des Archivs lag eine grundsätzliche, kritische Reflexion aller bisherigen Gewohnheiten in Verwaltung und Erschließung der Bestände zugrunde. Bei der Konzeption des Lokalsystems haben wir von Anfang an vom Ende, das heißt vom Publikumskatalog her gedacht, in dem auf benutzerfreundliche Art, differenziert oder pauschal, unterschiedlichste Materialien und entlegenste Literaturnachweise zusammengespielt sein würden. Vor knapp zwei Jahren wurde die OPAC-Komponente in Betrieb genommen, und diese Tagung schien uns ein guter Anlaß, einmal innezuhalten, über seine Benutzbarkeit und Effektivität, vor allem aber über Verbesserung und Weiterentwicklung nachzudenken.
