Abstract
"Die Förderung der Informationskompetenz, der Fähigkeit zur gezielten und effizienten Suche nach fachrelevanter, wissenschaftlicher Information in gedruckten und elektronischen Medien, ist ein integraler Bestandteil der Tätigkeit der Fachreferenten." Mit diesem Satz beginnen die Ausführungen zum Thema "Förderung der Fachinformationskompetenz" innerhalb des "Konzeptes zur Fachreferatsarbeit", das im vergangenen Jahr von den Fachreferenten 2 der Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Bremen 3 in einem intensiven und zum Teil kontroversen Diskussionsprozess erarbeitet und im Spätsommer 2002 offiziell verabschiedet wurde. Seit Ende der neunziger Jahre ist die Zahl der auf bibliothekarischen Fachtagungen gehaltenen Vorträge sowie der in Fachzeitschriften erschienenen Beiträge zum Thema Informations- und Medienkompetenz deutlich gestiegen. Auch außerhalb des Bibliothekswesens wird in überregionalen Studien und Empfehlungen die Notwendigkeit der Förderung von Informationskompetenz durch die wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken betont.
