Abstract

Aktive Dienstleistungen sind ein Kernelement bibliothekarischer Arbeit. Sie sind das wirksamste Mittel, um in der eigenen Trägereinrichtung als Spezialist für die effektive Verwaltung und Vermittlung von Informationen wahrgenommen zu werden. Das gilt besonders für (kleinere) Spezialbibliotheken, die sich häufig mit der Einstellung konfrontiert sehen, eine Bibliothek sei nicht mehr als eine teure "Bücherverwahranstalt" und das Internet eine entsprechend kostengünstige und einfach zu handhabende Alternative. Was also kann man tun, um diesen Irrtümern entgegenzuwirken? Leider gibt es dafür kein Patentrezept. Dennoch lohnt sich die Suche nach individuellen Möglichkeiten, sich im eigenen Umfeld zu behaupten. Ein Erfahrungsbericht der Bibliothek des Ministeriums für Schule, Wissenschaft und Forschung NRW (MSWF) soll einige Anregungen geben. Die seinerzeit bei der Konstituierung des MSWF durch die Zusammenlegung zweier Behördenbibliotheken erzielten Synergien und die zeitgleichen Überlegungen zur Gestaltung des Wissensmanagements im Ministerium waren für die Bibliothek eine Chance, das Dienstleistungsangebot auszubauen und so das eigene Image als Serviceeinrichtung deutlich zu verbessern.
