Abstract

This paper reports a pilot study of image digitization projects and the subject access they provide. It examines the factors that lead to undertaking a project, decisions about what images will be digitized, and the use of standard vocabularies and locally created vocabularies. The study considers these developments as examples of the growth of professional knowledge.
