Abstract

Die Forderung nach langfristiger Archivierung zur späteren (Wieder-) Verwendung bezieht sich zunehmend nicht nur auf gedruckte oder elektronische Dokumente, sondern auch auf Daten, die strukturiert in Datenbanksystemen (DBS) gespeichert werden. Heutige DBS-Produkte sehen Archivierung als Datensicherung und geben die Kontrolle über die 'archivierten' Daten auf. In Abgrenzung zum herkömmlichen Backup/Recovery ist anwendungsorientiertes DB-Archivieren charakterisiert durch: Archivierung logischer Datengranulate, Benutzerveranlassung, Datenauslagerung und Archivzugriff. Das Buch stellt Archivierungs- und Nutzungsmodelle sowie -probleme vor und klassifiziert Konzepte und Implementierungsansätze. Als idealaer Archivspeicher wird ein sog. log-strukturiertes Tertiärspeichersystem (LTS) eingesetzt
