"Diese überarbeite Fassung liegt nun als Ausgabe 2001 der "Systematik der Stadtbibliothek Duisburg" (SSD) vor. Leitlinie bei der Uberarbeitung war die Überlegung, inhaltlich und terminologisch auf der Höhe der Zeit zu bleiben, mit Verbesserungen aber nicht die bisherige Struktur der Systematik zu verlassen. Nur so können mit einer Modernisierung notwendigerweise verbundene Umsystematisierungsarbeiten der Medienbestände mit ihren Folgearbeiten für Katalogisierung und technische Medienbearbeitung in einem vertretbaren und im Bibliotheksalltag leistbaren Rahmen gehalten werden. Eine strukturelle Erneuerung der SSD ist nach dem Verständnis der Duisburger Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare aber auch nicht angezeigt. Da die Duisburger Systematik, anders als bis 1999 die ASB, regelmäßig überarbeitet und gepflegt wurde, reichten kleinere Korrekturen in der inhaltlichen Ausrichtung und der Feingliederung sowie zur Modernisierung des Sprachgebrauchs aus, um sie für die Stadtbibliothek Duisburg selbst und für alle ihre Anwenderbibliotheken aktuell zu halten. Auch künftig wird die SSD in diesem Rahmen weiterentwickelt und gepflegt werden."
