Abstract

In der zeitgenössischen kulturwissenschaftlichen Diskussion spielen die Themen Gedächtniskultur, kollektives Gedächtnis, Erinnern und Vergessen - wie zahlreiche Publikationen belegen - eine große Rolle. Stets sind hierbei auch Probleme der Wissensorganisation angesprochen, denn immer schon wurden Instrumente der Wissensrepräsentation und -vermittlung auch in den Dienst der memoria gestellt. Hierbei ist von besonderem Interesse, daß zur Zeit sowohl der memoria-Diskurs als auch die wissensorganisatorische Diskussion um die Erfahrung einer Krise der Informationsspeicher kreisen. Herausragende aktuelle Themen der Wissensorganisation wurden im memoria-Diskurs bereits seit Jahrzehnten erörtert und werden heute besonders intensiv behandelt: Erfahrungen der Erinnerungskultur, die sich die Wissensorganisation bislang leider nicht zunutze gemacht hat. Der Beitrag bespricht diese Themen und geht aus vom Konzept der Materialität und Medialität der Speicher (Buch, elektronische Medien) und deren kultur- wie technikgeschichtlich bedingten Kategorien Masse, Partikularisierung oder gar Atomisierung, Schnelligkeit, Akzeleration und Aktualität; in einem zweiten Schritt wird die dem Speicher durch seine Materialität gleichsam 'eingeschriebene' Kategorie der Fragilität und Vergänglichkeit einschließlich des Phänomens der verlorenen Authentizität angesprochen. Es folgen Kategorien, die Auswege aus der Informationsflut weisen wie Vergessen und Modellierung einschließlich der Modellierungsabwehr. Eher Fragen der Darstellung werden sodann durch die Wechselbeziehung zwischen Text und Bild sowie die Kategorie der Räumlichkeit angesprochen. Materialität, Medialität, Masse, Modellierung, Text-Bild-Bezug, Räumlichkeit: die angesprochenen Kategorien und Phänomene markieren in der Tat Knotenpunkte bzw. Schaltstellen der zeitgenössischen kulturwissenschaftlichen Diskussion
