Abstract
Über 1.800 Mitarbeiter öffentlicher Bibliotheken haben sich seit 1999 über den Onlinekurs "bibweb - das Internettraining für Bibliotheken" (www.bibweb.de) fortgebildet. Eine repräsentative Umfrage unter den Kursteilnehmern zeigt die hohe Zufriedenheit mit dem virtuellen Angebot von Bertelsmann Stiftung und ekz.bibliotheksservice: Über 90% der Befragten gaben an, erneut einen Onlinekurs belegen zu wollen. Angesichts dieser hohen Akzeptanz für das Lernen mit dem Internet und des großen Fortbildungsbedarfs von Bibliotheksmitarbeitern planen Bertelsmann Stiftung und ekz.bibliotheksservice nun einen konsequenten Ausbau ihres Kursangebots. Über das sogenannte "Lernforum für Bibliotheken" sollen ab 2002 weitere praxisrelevante Themen per Onlinekurs vermittelt werden, so z. B. das Thema "Kundenorientierung". Aktuelle Studien räumen dem E-Learning zwar große Zukunftschancen ein, der Einsatz dieser neuen Lernform findet in deutschen Unternehmen und Hochschulen jedoch noch eher verhalten statt. Die "bibweb"-Teilnehmer übernehmen daher eine Vorreiterrolle beim Lernen per Internet, das gegenüber herkömmlichen Kursen mit einem Ausbilder vor Ort mehrere Vorteile bietet: Die Kursteilnehmer sind zeitlich und räumlich unabhängig, die Zahl der Teilnehmer ist nicht begrenzt und die Kosten sind niedriger. Auch das Lerntempo kann frei gewählt werden. Chat und Diskussionsforen im Internet sowie eine Hotline erleichtern den Austausch der Kursteilnehmer untereinander.
