Abstract

Seit 1997 wird am Medienpädagogischen Zentrum Land Brandenburg ein digitales Bildarchiv aufgebaut. Es bietet dem interessierten Nutzer seit Anfang 1999 die Möglichkeit, via Internet in den Fotobeständen des Medienpädagogischen Zentrums zu recherchieren, Bilder auszuwählen und auch die druckfähigen digitalen Bilder zu bestellen. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Landesbildstellen, die teilweise seit über 70 Jahren über ein Bildarchiv verfügen und demzufolge auch umfangreiche Bildbestände besitzen, wurde im Land Brandenburg 1997 ganz von vorn begonnen. Zwar gab es bis zur Auflösung der Länderstruktur in der ehemaligen DDR im Jahr 1952 eine Landesbildstelle mit Fotobeständen, diese sind aber bis auf ca. 1000 Fotos verschollen. obwohl das Foto in der schulischen Bildung der heutigen Zeit nicht mehr die gleiche Rolle spielt wie noch in den ersten Jahrzehnten der Entstehung und Entwicklung von Bildstellen, so erhält es nun aber in digitaler Form eine neue Bedeutung als Bestandteil von Multimedia-Anwendungen. Aber auch in der klassischen Verwendungsform als Anschauungsmaterial im Unterricht kann das Foto für den Lehrer durch eine schnelle Beschaffung auf elektronischem Wege zum Zwecke eines Folienausdrucks wieder interessanter werden als die in der Bildstelle auszuleihende konventionelle Dia-Reihe. Das Bildarchiv strebt auch die Zusammenstellung von Dia-Reihen in digitaler Form an. Diese können dann ebenfalls über das Internet den Lehrern zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Zur Zeit wird gerade in Kooperation mit anderen Einrichtungen eine Fontane-Reihe erarbeitet. Der Beschluss zum Aufbau des Bildarchivs erfolgte einerseits auf Grund dieser Möglichkeiten für die Bildungsarbeit, andererseits resultierte er aus dem Bedürfnis der Landesregierung und der Landeseinrichtungen nach einem Bildarchiv, das schnell und kostengünstig Bilder für Publikationen zur Verfügung stellen kann
