Abstract
Immer mehr Publikationen werden zusätzlich oder ausschließlich über das Internet angeboten. Erste elektronische Pionierzeitschriften stammen aus den 80er-Jahren. Heute ist es für viele Wissenschaftler selbstverständlich, dass auf die gewünschten Artikel schnell und einfach über das Internet zugegriffen werden kann. Was wir heute eine elektronische Zeitschrift nennen, ist in den meisten Fällen ein digitales Replikat der gedruckten Ausgabe. Das dürfte sich allerdings ändern, sobald die Online-Zeitschriften die vollen Möglichkeiten der neuen Technologien und des Internets ausschöpfen. Das Buch ist das erste deutschsprachige Werk zu diesem Thema. Nach einer Beschreibung der Entwicklungsgeschichte wird der Status Quo ausführlich diskutiert
