Abstract

Part 2 of the 1998 Memorandum concerning the further development of literature supply on a national level. Indicates trends in the field of information and communication technology which will impact the whole field of national information provision especially those concerning enhanced responsibility for libraries involved in the special collection programme of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) (German Research Association). Discusses the following imperatives: the integration of digital and printed materials; procedures for making them available and accessible; and the responsibility for long term archiving. Outlines proposals for new services, for the enhancement of existing services and for their coordination. Provides an overview of DFG initiatives for the support and financing of appropriate projects
