Abstract
SmartCards werden immer leistungsfähiger und bieten in Verbindung mit den zugehörigen Service-Systemen eine Vielzahl an Dienstleistungen. Damit eine SmartCard nicht bei diebstahl oder Verlust unrechtmäßig benutzt wird, muß sie prüfen, ob sie von ihrem rechtmäßigen Besitzer benutzt wird. Hierzu wird üblicherweise das PIN-Verfahren, d.h. ein wissensbasiertes Benutzer-Authentisierungsverfahren, verwendet. Durch den erreichten technologischen Fortschritt gewinnen nun biometrische Benutzer-Authetisierungsverfahren zunahemend an Bedeutung. Der vorliegende Beitrag befaßt sich mit besher bekannten Beispielen zur Kodierung biometrischer Referenzdaten am Beispiel der Fingerabdruck-Erkennung
