Abstract

Reports results of an empirical study of Chinese language search terms in information retrieval. The 3 research questions involved: characteristics of access points used in Chinese bibliographic databases; characteristics of the search terms used in Chinese bibliographic databases; and how these search terms match the terms within the database in terms of zero hit and the number of relevant items received. Research methods include observation, in depth interviews and pre and post questionnaires
