Abstract
Während das dokumentationswissenschaftliche Thesaurusprinzip Eingang in Wissensschaftsdisziplinen wie Linguistik und Informatik findet, wird verstärkt eine Ausdifferenzierung und Aspektierung von Thesaurusrelationen diskutiert. Um das damit komplexer werdende Realtionengefüge konsistent zu halten, wird hier eine Beschreibung von Thesaurusrelationen anhand ihrer mathematischen Eigenschaften vorgeschlagen. Eine mathematische Markmalsanalyse über die Eigenschaften Reflexivität, Irreflexivität, Symmetrie, Antisymmetrie, Transitivität und Atransitivität erlaubt eine Beschreibung und weitgehende Differenzierung der Thesaurusrelationen. Die traditionelle Bestandsbeziehung wird dabei in vier Relationen aufgeteilt. Die Kausal- und Nachfolgebeziehung sowie die logische Gleichordnung werden in jeweils 2 neue Varianten unterschieden. In den neuen Anwendungsbegieten ist die Beschreibung von Relationen anhand ihrer mathematischen Eigenschaften im Hinblick auf maschinelle Repräsentation, Inferenzmechanismen und Konsistenzkontrolle von Bedeutung
