Discusses the current cataloguing practice in Slovakia, a country which is actively aiming to become part of the international library community through membership of international library organizations and adopting the use of ISBD system and AACR2. Discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the setting up of a Cataloguing Commission with the aim to raise the quality of Slovak librarianship
