Abstract

Outlines some of the issues that must be considered before adopting digital imaging of paper based materials as a method of preservation. Discusses the quality of digital images in terms of resolution and pixel depth, as well as issues of authenticity, verification and bibliographic integrity. Points to the fallacy of digital incorruptibility and the potential problem of obsolescence of equipment and standards
