Abstract

Estimates there are around 300 million computers currently linked to the Internet, with some 300 million users. Attempts to explain its economies, considering the size of the investment in hardware and the electrical power and telephone charges involved in keeping the Internet running. Whilst at present, telephone companies and software houses are the main beneficiaries of the profits, this is only a temporary phenomenon, and new industries will emerge that will leverage the Internet's huge user base to generate large benefits for themselves
