"Überblick über die wichtigsten medienpsycholgischen Antwortversuche auf die Frage: Warum reziperen Medien- (vor allem: Fernseh-)nutzer (welche) Unterhaltungsabgebote? Die zahlreichen Bemühungen, diese Frage unter Rückgriff auf ein eskapistisches Bedürfnis bzw. Motiv bei den Rezipienten, mit dem Hinweis auf die von Zuschauern präferierten erregungsphysiologischen bzw. -psychologischen Zustände oder mit Hilfe psychologischer Einstellungsmodelle zu erklären, werden motivationspsychologische rekonstruiert
