Abstract

Traces the impact made by online cataloguing utilities, such as OCLC, on the jobs of cataloguing librarians. Considers the potential of outsourcing for the reduction cataloguing costs for academic libraries and the impact that outsourcing will have on such cataloguers. Since cataloguing is a field which traditionally has attracted Chinese American librarians, considers what effects cataloguing outsourcing will have on this community as a whole
