Abstract
Wenn heute in den entwickelten Industriestaaten im wachsenden Maße Zukunftsthemen diskutiert werden, so ist dies nur teilweise dem näherrückenden und zweifellos sehr symbolträchtigen Jahrtausendwechsel zuzuschreiben. Das zunehmende Interesse an der Zukunftsproblematik verdankt sich nämlich weniger der Zhal 2000 und dem kalendarischen Übergang in das 21. Jahrhundert, als vielmehr einer umfassenden Paradigmenkrise, die einerseits Grundfesten der Industriegesellschaften erschüttert, in der sich jedoch auch neue Entwicklungschancen und -korridore eröffnen. Jede Form von Zukunftswissenschaft sieht sich gegnwärtig mit zwei extremen Positionen konfrontiert, die gleichermaßen den realistischen Blick auf ihre Potentiale verstellen, nämlich tiefsitzenden Vor-Urteilen einerseits und überzogenen Erwartungshaltungen andereseits. Es ist Ziel dieses Aufsatzes, einen möglichen Ausweg aus diesen innovationsblockierenden Frontstellungen zu skizzieren
