Enthält kritische Anmerkungen zur Terminologie der Indexierung und diskutiert die Problematik, speziell mit Bezug auf Vor- und Nachteile der freien, intellektuellen und der maschinellen Indexierung. Abschließend Erörterung der Indexierungsanwendungen an Beispielen aus der Landwirtschaft (agris und FSTA). Empfiehlt eine verbindliche Indexierung ergänzt durch Möglichkeiten der freien Textsuche
