Abstract

Describes the development of a tool for librarians to plan information provision in interdisciplinary fields and to find a method for selecting terms for a documentation language in such fields. The interdisciplinary field of biotechnology was chosen and the study was limited to Finnish research. Discusses bibliometric methods; bibliometric characteristics; journal use; terms for a documentation laguage; knowledge structure; and the apllicability and generality of the method
