Abstract

Wesentliche Aufgabe einer wissenschaftlichen Fachgesellschaft ist die Förderung der fachlichen Kommunikation in ihrem Gebiet. Fachgesellschaften befassen sich daher traditionell mit der Publikation von wissenschaftlichen Forschungsergebnissen und anderen fachbezogenen Informationen. Die Europäische Mathematische Gesellschaft (EMG) nimmt als übergeordneter Zusammenschluß der nationale Fachgesellschaften eine besondere Stellung ein und bietet seit Juni 1995 mathematische Publikationen und Informationen elektronisch über ein System von WWW-Servern an. Kernstücke des über Europa verteilten Systems sind die elektronsiche Bibliothek der Mathematik mit elektronischen Zeitschriften und Konferenzbänden und Informationen über die Gesellschaft sowie die weltweite Aktivitäten im Bereich der Mathematik
