Abstract

Discusses the reaction arising from the production of the 'Catalogue of Dated Manuskripts in Switzerland'. (CDMS) covering the future use of the information collected during the catalogue's compilation. Examines 8 collections with more than 150 mediaeval manuscripts and others scattered throughout many small collections. Covers the issue of which older catalogues need replacing, tracing the development of work on the CDMS. Outlines the advantages of producing such catalogues, such as the availability of marginal notes and additions to illustrate the contemporary thoughts of the writers and readers.
