Abstract

Considers whether the Internet is changing the form, content, and substance of scholarly publishing. Outlines the current content of the Internet and how scholars communicate. Although the Internet offers unique connectivity capabilities its searching and retrieval abilities compare unfavourably with traditional information resources. It is unlikely that it will displace traditional scholarly publishing, but publishers need to become part of it as it will increasingly become a medium for scholarly communication
