Abstract

Encarta represents the latest addition to the assortment of CD-ROM based encyclopedias now available; based on this review, it will be a worthy competitor to the popular Compton's and Grolier products. Microsoft is rumored to have spent over $500.000 in the development of Encarta, and it is only one of over 20 titles they are currently working on. Microsoft's electronic publishing strategy appears to have very substantial resources allocated for new CD-ROM title development, and it will be interesting to follow the success of these titles as they are released
