Describes the principal event which have marked the movement towards standardization of archival description in Canada. Discusses the organizations responsible for creating the standards and producing 'the rule for archival description' of records whether textual, graphic, electronic or sound-based. Outlines the rules themselves and their underlying principles, and raises certain problems which accompany their application
