Abstract

Founded in 1926, the archive, part of the library and archive department, now stocks 136.132 score units. There are 2 million entries in the card catalogue; in 1993 computerised cataloguing was introduced. The archive is the central score purchasing point for the company's (WDR) entire radio and television output and must obtain all its performance material. Score copyists are employed to make new arragements and provide orchestral parts
